REFASHIONING ART THROUGH HISTORY
"The latest fashion...is absolutely necessary for a painting. It´s what matters most"
Édouard Manet, 1881
There is a vital relationship between fashion and art. Followers of art are aware of the fashion world´s influence on a great number of artist. Our second project consisted of studying this relationship through history.
The students learnt the basic concepts of drawing the human figure. The final project was to create a collection inspired in classical works, pictures or events in history.
It´s not the first time this happens. Impressionism, Fashion and Modernity is the title of the newly opened exhibition at the Metropolitan museum of Art in New York. It shows how the latest trends in dress designs played an oversize role in the artistic development of Impressionist painters. It´s worth to visit the exhibition at www.metmu seum.org/exhibitions/listings/2013/impressionism-fashion-modernity
WELCOME TO OUR ART CLASS!
This is a web design to show the projects the students create in art class.
Our first project was to choose a painter belonging to an artistic period and try to show and communicate his/her style. After visiting the National Gallery they chose their favourite painting. The students had to seek, explore and make analytical, aesthetic and design choices.
This was a good experience where the students had to use the appropiate instruments, resources and tools to create and to reflect on the steps of their creative process!
